Slowing down

How does a person's memory work?
Sometimes I can remember things so clearly and everything makes sense. Other times, I can't remember what I was thinking a few seconds earlier. Why are some names so easy to remember and some so hard? Why can I remember exact phrases people said 10 years ago, and yet forget a conversation I've had 10 minutes ago? It can't possibly be because I'm older. I think I can sum it up as I'm getting stupider. Believe it or not I bet it's true. More knowledge than before but less acuteness and ability to think straight. I blame computer games and television. Sometimes it's frustrating that I can't seem to focus. I'm so serious I think I have ADD.

I'm constantly thankful that there was no ritalin when I was small. I'm constantly thankful that I have the memories I do have. I'm constantly thankful that I can still live by the moment. Lastly, I'm constantly thankful, that I do still remember the things that are important.

Talent

So yesterday I went to see Sharon perform at her concerto competiton. Very good job Sharon! Congrats on making it to the finals. We'll be cheering you on in that as well.

It's very odd hanging out with people and then watching them perform or something and realize how crazy a talent they have. Like mind blowing insane! How people who seem normal can do something that you can't possibly imagine. Doesn't talent seem like such an unfair thing?

And yet, I can sit back and appreciate them. How lucky it is that we have people who have talents. Can you imagine if everyone was as uncoordinated as me? Ahhh I'm excited to see what hidden talents the rest of you have. I know you all do.

Prayer

What do you consider a prayer? Is it something you throw out there in hopes of wishful thinking? I'm sure when the average person thinks of prayer they think of the new car, the dying relative, or the daily food requirement.

I think of prayer like something that you need for your health. Think of it as taking a shower. It does seem like a hassle, you have to get your stuff, you gotta take time, you're hair might get wet, blah blah blah. However, once you start taking a shower I just wanna stay there forever under the nice warm water. So I think sometimes it's hard to start praying, finding the time, or the opportunity. However, once you start talking to God, you can do it for so long. It's like talking to someone who you know cares, is listening, and is very trustworthy. Plus, has the power to maybe do something? Either way, just like showers, you feel a lot better afterwards.

Just like you can't take too many showers, you can't pray too much.

Words

What's a word? Is it something located in the dictionary?

Are words just slangs people use enough that it eventually becomes a word? ie. Blog, wassup, blah.

Are words simply things that other people understand the meaning off? Goodly, fantastical?

How do you explain a sheep to someone who never saw sheep. Or the colour blue to someone who is blind with merely words?

What is a word? And what can it do? Does it have power or is it as powerful as the person listening to it?

I think words are not given enough emphasis when they should, and more when they shouldn't. When it comes to words it's not the word that holds the power it's the meaning. Now that's the real question, what do people really mean?

Clout

Clout is the ability of influence of convincing people to do something.

Rules of clout:

1. You can gain any clout over the person who you have influence over. If because you can get person A to go person B and C come along as well. Therefore you get credit for A, B, and C even though you leeching off clout A.

2. Just because you know a lot of people does not increase clout. You might know tons of people who you can't convince to go out.

3. Negative clout is when you go to a party, people who were going decide not to go.

4. Don't worry about clout. As long as you have your core people then who cares who else will come out. If they don't want to hang out with you that's their loss.

5. I'm hungry.
