Hockey

Well, if you know me, you'll probably figure out I'm not really a sports person. Like not natural anyways. I find sports fun, but I'm not like one of those, I've never played this game in my life before but I play better than half the people here type of people. I'm more of a I really suck at this but I'll keep playing and after many many years I can call myself average some of the time. Coordination isn't something I've been good at. At any rate, I dont' know much about watching sports either. Which is really a lower form of playing sports. The only sport I can say I have any remote knowledge in is hockey.

Well, as I said yesterday I jumped on free tickets at the ACC yesterday. Hahah well with my greed I took 4 in total. Scrounged up some people to go with me. Thank goodness, (of course one of them referred to Eddie Belfour, as "Oh the goalie is named Bell Foul). At any rate, the seats were pretty good. Exec suite, so we're on second row. If you don't know what an exec suite is like. It's basically a private room for 10 people with some couches and tables and tv's and a bar. There's a lady who serves you (you don't have to pay extra for her) and then there's a balcony which you sit on that overviews the rink. I was close enough that I could actually make out who the players were. Of course for 200 buck tickets I'd expect some lazyboys and full course meals. (bet you waterloo people you were in TO now don't you! ) But what can you do? Nerate I didn't even get to experience the feeling of watching the Leafs score, since they got shut out.

I noticed how quickly fans who would cheer the leafs for the entire game would all of a sudden realize that the Leafs would lose start booing. Honestly, REAL fans cheer on the team whether they win or lose. Tsk tsk, then again I don't know if I should feel sorry for players who get paid millions of dollars.

I hear there was a snow day at school. Darn those lucky people. A snow day was one of the funnest days last year that I've had at school. 8D I hope you guys haven't wasted it. Even though I'm sure you'll have plenty more.

Suckiness

Everyone loves free things. And I'm always one to jump on free stuff. Which makes it even suckier when I don't. Take for instance, 5 minutes ago we got an e-mail saying that there were free box seat Leaf tickets. Apparently some clients coudln't come in from New York because of the snow. (Company owns a box)Heheh to say the least there isn't much interest in them and it would be easy for me to get some tickets, however, I can't think of a single person who would be able to go with me. (all my leaf fan friends are out of town) Hence I'm going to have to give up box tickets in the ACC. Grrr why can't any of my hardcore hockey friends be in TO right now. Man, I hate giving up free stuff.

Grrr

If anyone in TO wants to go with me. let me know ASAP! Yikes!

Ahh I coudln't resist I took 2 tickets. Now I have to find someone to go with....

I just haven't seen a Leaf game in person before and I'm already downtown.

Such short notice, but still! I can't believe I'm actually having a problem thinking of someone who wouldn't want to go to a box seat Leafs Game! If I was in Waterloo I'd have people fighting for the spots. Grrr.

Update

Well, I'm now finished the 5th book of Harry Potter. That's right I've read all 5 Harry Potter books in a week and a half. Well, I'm definetly going to go into withdrawl now. I must admit that the plot and the way the book is written is very very good. Just have to keep in mind that it's just a book and magic is generally sourced from Satan himself... But other than that it's a good fun and interesting book. Very well written. Very well written indeed. (Harry Potter is a jerk, I want to smack him everytime he says or thinks something in the last 2 books. Always angry at everyone, and blaming them. Honestly, what a jerk)

Now I have to find something else to do with my time.

Well, last night was rough. I was sort of sick. You know how you feel really really sore and your whole body is aching. Well, you're so tired that you can't do anything productive but ur so sore that you can't fall asleep . Hence you just lie there feeling really really crappy. Well, that was my night But on retropect I wish I was still lying there now.

Well, I'm looking forward to winter retreat. And maybe that Harry Potter author will quickly come out with the next book.

Post

Finished the fouth Harry Potter book. Yeah I definetly don't see how little kids should be allowed to read this book. I' well aware of the occult type arguments but I think it's a bit too dark for them. Interesting plots, just sometimes I can't help but want to knock some sense into the characters. Honestly, they act like stupid kids sometimes. Sometimes they are brilliant and sometimes they so stupid. Can't stand it.

At any rate, Good news is that the LCCF commitee somehow pulled off holding a Winter Retreat. Whoot! Miracle finding a place.

Happy Chinese New Year. Time to catch some monkeys!

Reflection

Well I've tried to clean this up blog template up a bit. And it looks much neater now. I also added comments as per Alex's insistance. I was checking out my archives and I realized in March, I was answering age old questions. I must admit I must have been pretty wise in March because some of those answers were pretty good... which I'm amazed I could think like that. At any rate. I don't know why I went away from that sort of reflection and thinking. Hence I think I'll get away from the life lessons. And back onto important questions of life and my view and interpretation of them. So if any of you have any good questions that you want to hear my opinion of. Post them in the comments. I'll pick the ones I have opinions of and aren't repeats of the one's in March. Also that resemble something intelligent. I don't care why the chicken crossed the road. Has anyone seen a chicken cross the road? If a chicken crossed the road I'd assume he was following another chicken. But then why was the first chicken crossing the road? Perhaps because he was running away from the colonel who wanted to fry him for our toonie tuesdays.

Nehow put good questions in comments. I feel like I need to increase my deep reflection time!

Bible reading

Well with all the downtime I seem to be having until the new comps get here at work. I've been reading various things. Such as episodes and movie reviews and stuff until I exhausted all of the movies I could think of and all the TV shows I care to know about. At any rate, G was coordinating a read the bible in a year thing. Props to him by the way, good effort creating a forum and what not. At any rate, to think that 4 months ago when I was offered to do a bible reading I didn't give it a second thought. However, now why not! Nehow I joined late so I was a book behind but I caught up and went ahead in a mere day! Nehow I'm stopping for a bit so others can catch up. It works how we have to finish our assigned reading for the week by Sunday and confirm this on the forum and after everyone confirms. (14 people or so) we can all move on. We also post interesting facts or questions as we're reading. Note: Genesis has a huge amount of incest. I mean HUGE amounts. But I guess when the gene pool is so small you can't be so picky...

At any rate, while I was bored I also looked up controversaries of the bible. I must admit that I never actually read a lot of Psalms before. I discovered a chapter I didn't even know about. Pretty scary. In it David prophesies about the crucifixion. He describes the song as from the perpective of Jesus on the cross. The amazing thing is that this is 400 years before death by crucifixtion was even invented. Everyone knows Psalms was written hundreds of years before the Roman's even formed. If you don't know, you can check. This scientifically and logically sustained. And it's not like the Psalm is so vague that we're just interpretting it this way. See for yourself. NIV.

Psalms 22

For the director of music. To the tune of "The Doe of the Morning." A psalm of David.

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?
2 O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, and am not silent.

3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the praise of Israel. [1]
4 In you our fathers put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.
5 They cried to you and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not disappointed.

6 But I am a worm and not a man,
scorned by men and despised by the people.
7 All who see me mock me;
they hurl insults, shaking their heads:
8 "He trusts in the LORD ;
let the LORD rescue him.
Let him deliver him,
since he delights in him."

9 Yet you brought me out of the womb;
you made me trust in you
even at my mother's breast.
10 From birth I was cast upon you;
from my mother's womb you have been my God.
11 Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near
and there is no one to help.

12 Many bulls surround me;
strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
13 Roaring lions tearing their prey
open their mouths wide against me.
14 I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart has turned to wax;
it has melted away within me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
you lay me [2] in the dust of death.
16 Dogs have surrounded me;
a band of evil men has encircled me,
they have pierced [3] my hands and my feet.
17 I can count all my bones;
people stare and gloat over me.
18 They divide my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing.

19 But you, O LORD , be not far off;
O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
20 Deliver my life from the sword,
my precious life from the power of the dogs.
21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;
save [4] me from the horns of the wild oxen.

22 I will declare your name to my brothers;
in the congregation I will praise you.
23 You who fear the LORD , praise him!
All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!
Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!
24 For he has not despised or disdained
the suffering of the afflicted one;
he has not hidden his face from him
but has listened to his cry for help.

25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly;
before those who fear you [5] will I fulfill my vows.
26 The poor will eat and be satisfied;
they who seek the LORD will praise him-
may your hearts live forever!
27 All the ends of the earth
will remember and turn to the LORD ,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before him,
28 for dominion belongs to the LORD
and he rules over the nations.

29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship;
all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-
those who cannot keep themselves alive.
30 Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord.
31 They will proclaim his righteousness
to a people yet unborn-
for he has done it.

It's eery because it's so accurate of our account even though David was obviously centuries ahead of the event. Which just proves the validity of the bible. But I'm just perplexed I've never come across this chapter before when it's so blatent as what it represents.

Nehow just something I'm still in awe of from yesterday.

People

Blogs .

Well I've been reading people's blogs lately. I usually only check like certain people, but I decided to go all out and follow everyone I knew. Read a bunch of their old blogs too. Man, it's kinda odd how when you think about people you only think of them in context through stuff you've been there with them. When you read blogs you hear about this whole other life of them doing stuff and thinking about things, and troubles, and random thoughts you never knew of. It's cool, but sorta sad that you have to find out all this sort of stuff abou them through a web blog. It feels sorta wrong like ur sorta peeping into their life though. At any rate, working in an investment firm has rebolstered my interesting in trading shares. Hopefully it won't rekindle my bad luck in them as well. Let's just say if it goes up I seem to buy it and then it'll drop where I'll sell it then it'll go up even higher than before and so on. That's my luck! I seemed to have better luck when I picked names based on how they sounded.

Reminds me Gandalf industries. Man. That was a name that sounded good long ago before all the LOTR movies. And it skyrocketed. Should have went with my instincts! Or childish intellect. Hence if you want me to invest in ur firm name it something cool! Something that doesn't sound like it'll go bankrupt. I think my next post will be lesson 4. I just have to choose which one to share. hmmm.

Working

I miss all the free time I had at school. Sure you can go home and do whatever you want, but there's no one around since they're all at school and you have to go to bed early because you got to wake up again to go to work. Other than money, school time is definetly better. You guys are so lucky out there. I hope you are enjoying it! Think of all the random things you can do out there. Make good use of it! I miss sleeping in until 9:30. Those extra 3 hours make a huge difference.

Hopefully I'll feel less enviess when exams roll around. But more enviess when reading week happens.

Lesson 3

I guess this is just something that I got reminded of when I was putting up the tree this year. You see when I was young and we put up the tree and we put tons of decorations on. Especially those pretty bulb things that are made out of glass which my mom purchased like 4 boxes the year before on boxing day. However, in the middle of the night you'd hear a large crash and the next monring we'd see that our tree fell over. Which of course meant that several of those pretty bulbs were broken. It's always a mess to try to pick up the pieces of something and figure out what is still usable and what can't be salvaged. At any rate we'd put the tree back up. When of course boom it will would down the next night. Ruling out that Santa Clause was sneaking into our house and in frustration of how evil Christmas was (making him so busy and all) and vandalizing our Christmas tree we soon figured out why. You see when we were setting up decorations my mom would always tell me that put it all on the front because what's the point on putting them on the back, no one can see them. However, this of course puts all the weight on the front of the tree and hence it falls over. Ahhh...

Life Morale: If you put everything for appearance, your going to fall over.

Sub Life Morale: Decorations also distract from all the holes in the tree that have been shedding from the branches over all these years. (Interpret that as you will..... )
